b. 1973, USA
Brown's work is crafted from a personal vernacular of beauty . Historically, "Mineralia" is defined as the taxonomic category for all non-life; that which is not life is a mineral . Renee's portraits challenge this definition. The work introduces viewers to a new perception of earth's treasures and allows for an investigation of a mineral's essence through the lens of contemporary art. Forms perceived in nature to be inert emerge with persona; bypassing what is rationally found in nature. This blurred line between reality and created reality is intriguing to her. Brown holds a MFA in Ceramics and a BFA in Interior Design. She maintains an independent studio in the Historic Brunswick Buil ding downtown Missoula, Montana.
