Louis-Philippe Chapdelaine's work stems from an interest in the relationship between individuality and oneness, and engages in communicating an experience shared at an elemental level. His approach relies heavily on spontaneity, embracing a certain loss of control, and opening possibilities beyond what can be planned. Using a combination of thick and thin applications of oil paint that is thrown, scraped, or brushed onto the canvas, his process usually involves many layers and cycles of construction and deconstruction. Louis-Philippe obtained his BFA in painting from OCAD University in spring 2017 and work out of his studio based in Toronto, Canada.
