b. 1977, Canada Dan Pelonis uses playful and subversive themes in his pattern composition; generating friction by merging history with modernity. Working within the pop aesthetic Dan’s painting explore the degradation and gradual abstraction of an image when repeatedly painted. The artists choice of subject matter and use of a shadow combine to make works equally striking and thought provoking. Dan Pelonis pursued an MFA at the New-York Academy of Art and later worked as a studio assistant to Jeff Koons. A recipient of an Elizabeth Greenshields Grant, he has exhibited in North America and abroad. Dan works out of his painting studio located in Toronto, Ontario.
